From Vision to Reality
At ANBAC, we have students with all ranges of needs. Some are capable of living on their own, maintaining a job/career, attending college, and driving a car. Some are more hands on and will never be able to fully support themselves safely, but they have the full capability of improving. Students will learn how to be an individual, with individual thoughts, self-expectations, and learn to be a contributing member of a family and community in their own special way. Each of our students are served by a one-to-one instructor that walks their student through hands on experiences to achieve independence within that area. Each instructor and student are supervised by a Licensed Behavior Analyst that specializes in skill acquisition.
When a potential student is referred to us, they go through what we call an Acceptance Interview. The first question we like to ask these potential students is “if you didn't have any barriers, what would you like for your life to look like in 5-10 years?” We have heard a variety of answers from wanting a family, their own home, own guardianship, or driver’s license. At that time, we break down the path of what skills and tools they are lacking to achieve these life goals. We specialize in independent thinking, self-motivation, staying on non-preferred tasks, financial/ budgeting knowledge, accessing resources, along with many, many more. Nothing compares to the overwhelming joy we feel when we watch an outpouring of excitement as a student passes their GED, finally accomplishes a task that was seemingly unattainable , or completes a new living skill without assistance.
In case you missed it ANBAC was featured on WYMT news! The segment highlights the important work we do every day to support our students as they learn, grow and thrive. We're grateful for the opportunity to share our mission with the community and invite you to watch the story here:
